News Ethics and Correction Policy

Sound of Hope Radio
Last Updated: August 2026

Sound of Hope Radio is committed to providing accurate, fair, transparent, and responsible news and public information services. This policy applies to news reports, website content, radio programs, social media posts, and other related digital content produced, published, or broadcast by Sound of Hope Radio.

I. Accuracy and News Verification

Accuracy is our highest priority in news reporting.

Before publishing or broadcasting important news, we conduct reasonable verification based on the nature of the news and the information available, including:

  • Prioritizing reliable, credible primary sources and official sources;
  • Cross-checking important information with multiple sources whenever reasonably possible;
  • Clearly distinguishing between confirmed facts, statements attributed to sources, speculation, and commentary;
  • Clearly identifying the source and uncertainty of information that has not yet been independently confirmed;
  • When using information from other media outlets or third-party sources, making reasonable efforts to verify the original information and appropriately identifying the source;
  • Reasonably verifying important facts, including numbers, dates, names, titles, locations, and other significant details.

We do not knowingly publish or broadcast information that we know to be false or misleading.

II. Fairness, Independence, and Transparency

We strive to handle news reporting in a fair, balanced, and independent manner.

For controversial public issues, we will, when reasonably practicable, provide relevant parties with an opportunity to respond and will avoid presenting news reporting as personal opinion.

Advertising, sponsorships, and other commercial content should be clearly distinguished from news content. Advertisers, sponsors, or other commercial interests are not permitted to directly determine the content of news reports or editorial decisions.

When a news report involves a relationship or interest that could affect editorial independence, we will disclose the relevant information when appropriate.

III. News Sources

Whenever possible, we identify the sources of news information so that listeners and readers can understand the basis for the information presented.

When using anonymous sources, we will consider doing so only when there is a legitimate newsworthy reason and the information cannot reasonably be obtained through other means. The identity of anonymous sources will be appropriately protected.

We will not, without reasonable basis, present unverified information from anonymous sources as confirmed fact.

IV. Artificial Intelligence and Digital Tools

Sound of Hope Radio may use digital tools and artificial intelligence to assist with news research, information organization, translation, text processing, transcription, or other aspects of the news production process.

However, information generated by artificial intelligence or other digital tools does not replace human verification. News personnel remain responsible for the content ultimately published or broadcast.

Information involving important factual claims should be reasonably verified by news personnel before publication or broadcast.

V. Errors and Corrections Policy

We recognize that errors can occur in the course of news reporting. When we discover a significant factual error in previously published or broadcast content, we will make reasonable efforts to correct it as promptly as possible.

The method of correction will depend on the nature and seriousness of the error and the platform on which the original content was published or broadcast, including:

  • Website News: We will clearly correct inaccurate information in the original article. When a significant factual error is involved, an appropriate correction notice may be added.
  • Radio News: If an error is materially significant, we will, when reasonably practicable, make a correction or clarification in a subsequent program or news broadcast.
  • Social Media and Digital Content: Depending on the nature of the error, we may publish a correction or clarification in the original post or on the relevant platform.
  • Significant Errors: If an error could cause listeners or readers to develop a materially incorrect understanding of an important event, we will give priority to addressing the error and, when appropriate, publicly explain the correction.

Minor errors involving spelling, formatting, wording, or other matters that do not affect the substance of the news may be corrected directly. When an error involves an important fact, we will, whenever practicable, preserve a transparent record of the correction.

We will not intentionally delete or alter previously published news content for the purpose of concealing an error.

VI. Correction Requests from Listeners and Readers

We welcome listeners and readers who identify potential factual errors in our news coverage.

If you believe that a news report published or broadcast by Sound of Hope Radio contains a factual error, you may submit a correction request through our publicly available contact information to the news team.

To assist us in reviewing the matter, please provide, whenever possible:

  1. The title of the news report or name of the program;
  2. The date on which it was published or broadcast;
  3. The specific information you believe is incorrect;
  4. Relevant documents, evidence, or sources that may assist in verifying the information.

After receiving a correction request, we will review the news content and the available evidence. Submitting a correction request does not necessarily mean that the content will be changed. We will determine whether a correction or clarification is warranted based on the results of our review.

VII. Editorial Responsibility

News editors, reporters, hosts, and production personnel at Sound of Hope Radio share responsibility for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our news content.

News personnel are responsible for conducting reasonable verification of content before it is published or broadcast and for taking appropriate corrective action when significant errors are discovered.

We will also continue to review and improve our news production, verification, and correction procedures in order to enhance accuracy, transparency, and public trust.

VIII. Our Commitment

We believe that the credibility of a news organization comes not only from making every reasonable effort to avoid errors, but also from being willing to acknowledge, verify, and promptly correct errors when they are discovered.

Sound of Hope Radio will continue to serve our readers and listeners in an accurate, honest, transparent, and responsible manner, while working to maintain and strengthen public trust in journalism.

We value the feedback of our listeners, readers, and community, and we will continue to improve our news practices and professional standards.
